Already in its fifth year, the MACJO has established itself as the premier collegiate honors big band in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This year's group will weave itself into the storied jazz history of  St. Peter's Church - also known as the Jazz Church.

The musicians will spend the weekend of January 12-13 in the jazz capitol of the World - New York City - immersing themselves in rehearsals and performances one can only experience in NYC. On Sunday January 12, the group will present the
Jazz Vespers
at 5 p.m. including a new work for contemporary big band composed for the band by this year's guest conductor Eric Richards, then will continue with a special presentation following the service.

In April, the group will assemble for its annual performance as part of the Weekend of Jazz in Downtown Cumberland - opening for the Army Blues on Friday April 12 and headlining the concert on Saturday, April 13. Injected into the experience will be an opportunity for these talented musicians to network with some of the finest young jazz musicians on the east coast - all while working under the direction of the talented composer/director
Eric Richards.  This is truly an unparallelled experience for aspiring jazz musicans and audience members alike!
